The materials
we specify.

Our default repair system is built around the Fosroc Renderoc range, the market-standard EN 1504 concrete-repair system in the UK. Below are the products we most commonly specify, why we choose them, and where each one fits in a repair.

Note. Product data below is summarised from Fosroc technical datasheets for reference only. Always refer to the current manufacturer data sheet for application. All Fosroc, Renderoc, Nitoprime, Nitomortar, Patchroc and Dekguard trademarks belong to Fosroc International Ltd.

View on Fosroc.com

A protective coating applied to the whole element after repair. Provides a barrier to atmospheric CO₂ (arresting further carbonation) and to chloride ingress. Part of the Renderoc repair system.

// Specification
Standard
BS EN 1504-2 · Principles 1.3, 2.2, 8.2
Protects against
CO₂, chloride ions, oxygen, water
Substrates
New and repaired reinforced concrete
Finish
Matt · pigmented
// When we use it
  • After completing carbonation-driven repairs, applied to the whole element

Crack-Bridging Coating

Dekguard Elastic

Elastomeric coating that accommodates future movement

Dekguard Elastic, Crack-Bridging Coating

View on Fosroc.com

A crack-bridging elastomeric acrylic coating for elements where further movement or hairline cracking is expected. Common on ASR-affected structures being monitored, and on façades with a history of thermal cracking.

// Specification
Type
Elastomeric acrylic protective coating
Elongation
High, bridges dynamic cracks
Colour
Available in a range of pigmented finishes
Use with
Nitoprime DG primer (silane-siloxane)
// When we use it
  • ASR-affected structures under expansion monitoring
  • Façades and elements with ongoing thermal or shrinkage cracking
  • Where a decorative, colour-matched finish is required over the repair

Structural Epoxy Mortar

Nitomortar S

High-strength epoxy repair for severe or thin-section reinstatement

Nitomortar S, Structural Epoxy Mortar

View on Fosroc.com

A three-component epoxy resin mortar for high-strength, chemically resistant reinstatement. Selected where a cementitious repair is inappropriate, thin sections, harsh chemical exposure, or where early strength is critical.

// Specification
Type
Solvent-free epoxy resin mortar
Compressive strength
Very high, > 70 MPa typical
Chemical resistance
Excellent (acids, alkalis, hydrocarbons)
Application
Trowel-applied, thin to moderate sections
// When we use it
  • Chemical process areas where acid/alkali exposure is expected
  • Thin-section repairs where a cementitious mortar would fail
  • Post-fire repairs where high early strength is required

View on Fosroc.com

A high-strength, free-flowing micro-concrete for reinstating structural elements where placement space is restricted or the reinforcement is congested. Poured into formwork rather than trowelled.

// Specification
Standard
BS EN 1504-3 · Class R4
Type
Cementitious, non-shrink, flowable micro-concrete
Application
Poured into formwork; ideal for full-section reinstatement
Best for
Column encasement, deep pockets, congested rebar
// When we use it
  • Full-section column or beam reinstatement
  • Where hand-applied mortar cannot reach behind reinforcement
  • Larger-volume placements requiring flow around dense bar arrangements
